The Our Carmichael Community concept was launched by Ranard Eric Henfield in September of 2015 to bridge divides between residents in the carmichael road areas so that as many persons as possible could enjoy community living and the village concept of the old Bahamas.

The initiative encourages residents to pool their resources, educate and empower each other, wield their influence over businesses, politicians and other organizations for the benefit of the entire community.
Residents are encouraged to learn to fish rather than wait for handouts. The Our Carmichael initiative was a 2016 Nominee as a Bahamian Icon for Humanitarianism.
The initiative is organized by Yasmine Alinscat, Jason Ferguson, Gizelle Bailey, Candace Scott, Estena Saunders, Sarah Gardiner, Patrina Khoo-Farquharson, Jessica Robertson, Lia Head-Rigby, Happie Carroll and numerous other community activists.
An interesting fact about the Our Carmichael launch is that Ranard reached out to Community Activist Cecil Newry in 2015 and indicated that he wanted to do something to make a difference and Cecil advised him to create a movement from within the people so that they can contribute to the changes they want to see. Today, the initiative has touched over 100,000 residents and in every circle, someone knows of the efforts of the Our Carmichael Squad!
